C.S. Friedman is probably better known in the world of traditional Science Fiction for her Coldfire and Magister trilogies. I received an ARC of her newest entry, Dreamwalker. The publisher describes is as “something completely different” and it may be… for her. To the rest of the world, it’s something I feel like I’ve seen a million times.
- A girl who sees the future through dreams. Check.
- Dark creatures and changeling children. Check.
- Moral dilemma on what really makes somebody family. Check.
- Daring, but poorly thought out rescue. Check.
It’s a quick, easy read and it’s relatively well written, but there’s nothing really unique or exciting to the story. Give it a try, but maybe wait for the discounted e-book.
